Seeking to capture a larger share of the growing market for digital high-definition television (HDTV) and other high-end digital products, Zenith Electronics Corp. has named Amazon.com its primary nationwide authorized online retailer.
Under the agreement announced today, Zenith's lineup of digital products – from HDTV sets and LCD displays to DVD players and digital audio products – is available through Amazon.com. Zenith's full line of plasma display panels, in screen sizes from 40 to 60 inches, will be added to the product mix on Amazon.com soon.
To support the launch, Zenith will be featured in Amazon.com's targeted national print advertising program beginning this month. The Amazon.com deal represents the cornerstone of Zenith's online sales strategy and a key element of its brand repositioning as the digital leader, according to Ken Lee, Zenith SVP, sales and marketing.
"Amazon.com's commitment to customer satisfaction mirrors our own, making it the perfect fit as Zenith continues to build awareness of our digital products in the marketplace," said Lee. "This exciting new agreement, which complements our traditional sales channels, will expand our online retail presence significantly by exposing tech-savvy consumers to the next generation of Zenith digital products.”
Zenith's 2002 product line comprises more than 80 percent digital products, including a broadened family of plasma and LCD screens and a series of integrated direct-view flat-screen HDTV models designed to help accelerate the DTV transition.
