National Geographic Digital Media, a National Geographic division dedicated to multimedia content, has announced it is putting its catalog of award-winning, short-form segments on user-generated content site, YouTube.com.
Shorts produced by National Geographic for its own Web site, Nationalgeographic.com, on topics such as weather phenomena, environmental news and a video series with tips on living a greener life are now available at youtube.com/nationalgeographic.
“The National Geographic programming on YouTube showcases the breadth of content we produce and puts some of the most spectacular footage from around the globe at the fingertips of YouTube's millions of users to enjoy and share,” said Betsy Scolnik, president of National Geographic Digital Media.
The Web-exclusive video clips include “Atmospheres,” an experimental series of scenes of beauty around the world, as well as “Crittercam” and the “Wild Chronicles” series, featuring animals in their natural habitats.
“National Geographic has a rich history of exposing people to cultural, educational and scientific topics that they may otherwise have never known about,” said Jordan Hoffner, head of news and premium content partnerships, YouTube. “We're thrilled to work with National Geographic to help expand its online presence, and we believe our community will find the content to be extremely compelling.”
