York Entertainment is set to expand distribution of its home entertainment product with CinemaNow, an Internet-based video-on-demand service.
As part of the deal, York will make available to CinemaNow more than 65 predominantly urban and Latino-based films available on either a download-to-own or subscription option.
“[The agreement] is an exciting opportunity for us to make our films available to a larger user base,” said Tanya York, CEO of York.
A York spokesperson said the agreement would expand to include other film genres.
Santa Monica, Calif.-based CinemaNow claims to have similar content distribution deals with more than 150 licensors, including 20th Century Fox, Disney, Lions Gate, MGM, Miramax and Warner Bros.
“Working with … York allows us to expand our overall catalog while broadening our reach into niche markets,” said Bruce Eisen, EVP of CinemaNow.
