Prior to attending this week's Sundance film festival in Park City, Utah, in search of “bigger films with bigger names,” Tanya York, CEO of York Entertainment, announced the acquisition of 12 urban and action titles.
Los Angeles-based York, whose product is distributed by Baker & Taylor, VPD and Navarre Corp., plans to release upwards of 50 titles this year on DVD at $14.99 each.
York, which released 29 titles last year, acquired fight films Knuckle Game and Street Survival, in addition to dramas Gravity and Camera Obscura. Other titles include urban comedies Soulmates and The University Player, and horror films Asylum Night and The Lonely Ones. The Switch, Detroit Hoopz, Turn Left and Toot's and Blow's round out the slate.
