Wolfe Releasing Earns Esteem Award1 Jul, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey
Indie distributor Wolfe Releasing will be honored July 5 with a special recognition award at the 8th annual PrideIndex.com Esteem Awards, for its support of the African-American LGBT communities.
The Esteem Awards are voted on by panelists and former honorees will be held in Chicago.
"We’re thrilled to honor Wolfe with our Special Recognition Award for their longtime commitment to serving African-American LGBT audiences,” said Philip Esteem Fleming, founder of the PrideIndex.com Esteem Awards. “It’s vitally important for all of us to see our lives reflected on the big screen.”
Wolfe, the largest exclusive distributor of gay and lesbian films, counts several highlights among its catalog of African-American releases, including Sundance Award-winner Brother to Brother, the musical Leave It on the Floor, the animated lesbian sci-fi feature Strange Frame, and this year’s comedy-action thriller Hot Guys With Guns.
“In our almost 30-year history, Wolfe has been committed to bringing audiences LGBT stories from all walks of life,” said Wolfe President Maria Lynn. “We are deeply honored to be acknowledged with the 2014 Special Recognition Award. We look forward to encouraging future African-American LGBT filmmakers to continue to bring their culturally rich stories to life.”
