WHV Poll To Yield Viewers Choice DVDs14 May, 2003 By: Hive News
Warner Home Video (WHV) will launch a promotion June 2 that will let America Online (AOL) subscribers choose five classics for release on DVD.
WHV has selected from its vault 20 catalog titles never before committed to DVD as candidates. The public will be able to vote for their top five favorites from June 2 to July 1.
Turner Classic Movies will air all 20 titles from June 23 to June 26, to refresh viewers' memories of their favorites before they cast their ballots. The five films with the most votes will make their DVD debuts in January 2004. All of the films will be remastered and will contain added bonus features where available. Winning DVDs will be announced in July.
AOL members may vote at AOL Keyword: DVD Decision DVD Decision 2003, which is part of the AOL movies area. Consumers who are interested in voting can sign up easily for AOL at www.tryaol.com/dvddecision. A brief synopsis, photos, and exclusive video clips from all 20 films will also be available online.
The film candidates feature stars such as Spencer Tracy, Judy Garland, Barbara Stanwyck, Gene Kelly, Jack Lemmon, Lana Turner, Sean Connery, Richard Burton, William Holden and more.
Titles on the list are he Actress, After the Thin Man, Another Thin Man, The Asphalt Jungle, Bad Day at Black Rock, The Blackboard Jungle, Days of Wine and Roses, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Executive Suite, Finian's Rainbow, For Me and My Gal, The Good Earth, I'll Cry Tomorrow, Love Finds Andy Hardy, Night of the Iguana, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Somebody Up There Likes Me, Where the Boys Are, The Wind and the Lion and Ziegfeld Girl.
