Wax Works Ups BCS, NASCAR16 Jan, 2008 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Distributor Wax Works Feb. 26 will release separately on DVD all four Bowl Championship Series (BCS) college football games from their original Fox Television broadcast.
The BCS culminates the college football season with a series of rotating bowl games featuring teams determined by a computer-generated ranking system.
The $24.95 DVDs, which include undisclosed special features, feature No. 2 LSU's 38-24 win over No. 1 Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans in addition to four bowl games.
They include No. 8 Kansas' 24-21 win over No. 3 Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl; No. 9 West Virginia's 48-28 victory against No. 4 Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl; No. 5 Georgia's 48-10 demolition of No. 10 Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl and No. 7 USC's 49-17 pasting of No. 13 Illinois in the Rose Bowl.
The discs were created in partnership with Fox Sports Productions Inc., licensing agent Collegiate Images and the BCS.
In addition Waxworks next month will release a five-disc set, Daytona 500 — 50 Years, The History of Daytona International Speedway, in commemoration the 50th anniversary of the NASCAR Daytona 500 auto race Feb. 17 in Daytona, Fla.
The box set retails for $59.95.
“It's not really a race DVD but a highlight of all 50 years,” said Kirk Kirkpatrick, VP of marketing for the Owensboro, Ken.-based distributor.
