Warner Ups College Presence23 Apr, 2007 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Seeking to expand upon its 200 sports-themed titles, Warner Home Video April 23 announced it had renewed a licensing deal with Collegiate Images LLC to create and distribute college sports DVDs in addition to electronic sellthrough content.
Under terms of the multiyear renewal, Warner will continue with a formula that focuses on creating male- and female-specific college team titles that highlight the school's history, championship seasons, special moments and complete games telecasts.
Beginning this fall with football, Warner will release The History of Penn State Football and The History of Wisconsin Football followed by The History of Indiana Basketball Nov. 13.
Retail prices and download options were not disclosed, but previous college titles, including The History of Florida Gator Football, The History of Notre Dame Football, The History of Ohio State Football and The History of Texas Longhorns Football, retailed for $19.98 each.
“College spirit is unparalleled in its nature and there are no fans more loyal and passionate than college sports fans,” said by Jeff Brown, SVP and GM with WHV. “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Collegiate Images, who is the leader when it comes to college sports content.”
