Warner Reloads The Matrix5 Feb, 2003 By: Hive News
It's going to be the Year of The Matrix in movie theaters (twice!), video stores and video game outlets.
Warner Bros. kicked off its groundbreaking integrated media strategy at a star-studded gala event this week on the Warner Bros. Studios lot.
Joining Warner Bros and Warner Home Video execs were execs from Village Roadshow Pictures, co-financiers with Warner Home Video of The Animatrix DVD and Infogrammes, which produced the Enter The Matrix video game. The event started with a debut of The Final Flight of the Osiris, one of nine original CG-animated and anime shorts on The Animatrix DVD (streeting June 3), based on Matrix-connected story lines developed by Larry and Andy Wachowski, creators of The Matrix movies. Then the audience got some big screen looks at Enter the Matrix.
The video game streets May 15, the same day as the theatrical bow of The Matrix Reloaded, the first of two Matrix movies in 2003. WHV's special edition DVD of the original The Matrtx streets April 29.
The crowd, including stars such as Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Laurence Fishburne, flocked to a dramatically-designed soundstage to try their hand at the video game and talk Matrix.
