Warner Q1 Revenue Up Slightly

4 May, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner

Harry Potter helped Warner Bros. Entertainment hold onto the magic in the wake of New Line's “Lord of the Rings” trilogy coming to an end.

Revenue at Time Warner's filmed entertainment unit increased $27 million, or 1 percent, for the first quarter of 2005. Warner attributed the hike in part to strong video sales of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Troy.

Lack of a property like last year's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and The Last Samurai made the quarter a difficult comparison theatrically, according to a statement.
