The third DTV film in Warner Home Video's DC Universe animated superhero line will be the anthology Batman: Gotham Knight.
Batman: Gotham Knight streets July 8 (prebook June 3) as a single-disc DVD at $19.98, a two-DVD special edition at $29.98, and on Blu-ray Disc at $34.99. The movie also will be available day-and-date on pay-per-view, on-demand and for download.
The movie features six interlocking stories that chronicle Bruce Wayne's journey to become Batman. The production was divided among three studios and some of the leading anime directors of the day to give it the distinct visual style associated with Japanese animation. The stories were penned by leading Batman comic book, TV and film writers such as David S. Goyer, Alan Burnett, Jordan Goldberg, Josh Olson, Greg Rucka and Brian Azzarello. Producers include Emma Thomas, Michael Usland and Benjamin Melniker of Batman Begins; Toshi Hiruma; and Bruce Timm of “Batman: The Animated Series.”
Bonus features include a commentary, making-of featurettes and a look at the next DC Universe animated movie, Wonder Woman. The special edition and Blu-ray also includes a profile of Batman creator Bob Kane, and bonus episodes of “Batman: The Animated Series.

The Gotham Knight DVD is timed to coincide with the release of the Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, scheduled for a July 18 theatrical debut.
