Warner Premiere Wraps 'The Clique'19 Mar, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey
Warner Premiere's direct-to-DVD production of The Clique wrapped production March 19, Warner Premiere president Diane Nelson announced. It's the first of several DVD movies Warner Bros. has franchise hopes for.
Executive produced by Tyra Banks and produced by Bob Levy (“Gossip Girls,” The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), the movie is based on the first of the bestselling young adult series of the same name, which have sold nearly 5 million copies. Nine of 12 books have been released, and after spending more than 120 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, the series could be extended.
“When we first read ‘The Clique' books, we immediately knew we wanted to make features out of this series and the characters [author Lisi Harrison] created,” Nelson said. “From the first meeting with Lisi … we have been incredibly excited, nearly as much as the fans themselves, to see the books come to life.”
Warner Home Video has not yet announced a street date or bonus features for the first DVD.
