Warner to Bow Heavy HD Slate

30 Aug, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel

HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc supporter Warner Home Video Sept. 26 will bow 10 titles — the largest single-day studio release slate for the competing nascent next-generation optical-disc formats.

Blu-ray titles include Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, Swordfish, Space Cowboys, Lethal Weapon 2, The Fugitive and House of Wax. HD DVD releases include The Dirty Dozen, Grand Prix, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

All titles will retail for $28.99. Bonus materials found on the standard-definition versions of these titles will be included on the HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions.

Notable among the releases is the added “in-movie experience” on Terminator 3, featuring director Jonathan Mostow taking fans on a journey to the heart of the T3 experience. The Adventures of Robin Hood, which won three Academy Awards and includes three Looney Tunes features, marks the first high-definition release of classic animation.
