Former v.p. in charge of the Operations Planning group Alan Bergman will take over the financial, strategic, and operational aspects of The Walt Disney Studios, Disney executives announced today.
"Alan is an essential member of the team," said Richard Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. "He comes to us with knowledge of both the company and the studio, which is a great asset to us now and will be even more valuable as our varying business interests continue to develop."
"Over the last several years, Alan has played a highly successful part in a number of important strategic and operational initiatives, including our efforts to increase cost and capital efficiencies throughout the company," said Thomas Staggs, senior executive v.p. and c.f.o. of The Walt Disney Co. "He possesses a keen understanding of our studio businesses and exceptional strategic and analytic skills. We are extremely pleased to have him bring those strengths to bear in this important role."
Bergman has been with Disney since 1996. Most recently, he was v.p. of the company's Operations Planning group, where he developed annual operating profit, cashflow and capital spending plans, as well as prepared quarterly and annual forecasts. He joined Disney as a director in the Corporate Controllership group. Before joining Disney, Bergman spent more than 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers' entertainment practice.
