Wal-Mart Posts Biggest Sales Decline in 28 Years

10 May, 2007 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Wal-Mart Stores posted a 3.5% decline in April same-store sales — reportedly its largest monthly drop in 28 years. The chain cited adverse weather conditions and an earlier Easter season for the decline. The retailer reported comparative-year gains in entertainment, including sales of flat-panel TVs, for contributing to a 3.7% increase in monthly revenue to $26.5 billion, from $25.6 billion last year.
