VSDA Says Show Move Info is Premature11 Mar, 2003 By: Kurt Indvik
The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) is responding to incorrect information and rumors being reported about a possible change of dates and location for its 2003 convention, currently slated for July 15 to17 at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“The rumor that has been reported regarding the change of the Home Entertainment 2003 show is premature and inaccurate,” said Sean Bersell, VP of public affairs for the VSDA. “I can confirm that discussions regarding the possibility of moving the show are ongoing and, unfortunately, the rumors that have been reported complicate those negotiations,” he said. “I can also tell you that the dates and the location reported for the show, if it were moved, are wrong.”
Bersell would not disclose any details about negotiations the VSDA is having about a possible show location or dates, other than to say “If a decision is made to move the show we will announce that at the earliest possible date. Whether we move the show will be driven by what is in the best interests of the attendees and exhibitors. But again, no final decisions have been made and no contracts have been signed.”
Bersell was responding to earlier reports posted on Video Business' Web site and on the VSDA's own discussion board, which had the show moving to the Venetian Hotel and the adjoining Sands Expo Center for July 26 to Aug. 2, with the event starting on July 27.
