VSDA Offers Oscar Promo Materials

Once again, the Video Software Dealers Association and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are cosponsoring a campaign to promote Oscar-winning and -nominated films available on home video.

Under the "Oscar Night Comes Home" in-store campaign, VSDA members can get one free promotional kit containing a theatrical-size Commemorative Oscar Show poster; an 8-1/2-by-11-inch window cling; 100 promotional stickers to be placed on Academy Award-winning films; two special section headers; reference book updates on Oscar winner lists, trivia sheets, contest ideas and more, along with an official reproducible ballot, to be sent to retailers after nominations are announced.

Additional kits are available for $30 each. The Academy Awards will be televised live on ABC television beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Rentals tend to jump when the nominations are announced and foll

wing the awards, the VSDA reported. For instance, last year rental turns increased 32.4 percent in the week after the Feb. 13 announcement and 32.8 percent the week after the March 25 awards telecast compared to the weeks immediately prior, according to VSDA VidTrac.
