VSDA Moves 2003 Convention to July 29 to 31 at The Venetian24 Mar, 2003 By: Kurt Indvik
The VSDA's Home Entertainment 2003 annual convention has moved its time and place to July 29 to 31 at the Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The convention had previously been slated to take place July 15 to 17 at the Rio Hotel & Casino.
The move was "designed to ensure maximum participation" for the convention, said an announcement for the event. Last year's VSDA event held at the Rio saw several major studios opt not to locate at the hotel, instead choosing other properties in Las Vegas to meet with retailers and distributors.
"The Venetian is a great venue and is well suited to our clientele," said VSDA president Bo Andersen. "It provides high-quality business suites for exhibitors and a first class hotel for attendees. Last year at the Rio we proved that the exhibitor suite concept is the model for the future of our show, and by moving it to The Venetian this year we can enhance the quality of the experience for everyone."
The Venetian will be housing the convention in its new conference facilities, said Don Rosenberg, group video director, Home Entertainment Events (HEE), producer partner with the VSDA in the convention and a division of Advanstar Communications, publisher of Video Store Magazine.
"We are ecstatic about holding the show at the Venetian. It is conveniently located in the heart of Las Vegas," he said. Rosenberg added that room rates for convention attendees at the Venetian will be under $100 per night.
Show organizers ask that anyone with concerns about the date change contact HEE at (800) 854-3112. Companies interested in exhibiting can choose to take a business meeting suite on one of several designated floors of the hotel or have a booth in the expo hall.
