VSDA Members Offered Western Union Opportunity15 May, 2002 By: Hive News
The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) is partnering with Western Union Financial Services, Inc., a subsidiary of First Data Corp. , to offer members the opportunity to become Western Union agents.
As the video industry presents new challenges to rental dealers, they continue to seek new revenue-generating opportunities. VSDA leaders hope the new program will help member retailers add a new profit center .
“For those video stores looking for additional revenue and ways to attract new customers, drawing more traffic into their stores, our new Western Union program offers an excellent opportunity.” said Bo Andersen, president, VSDA. "The program provides new ways to bring additional services and extra value to the customer."
Those who venture into the new service may offer customers financial services such as money orders, money transfer services and walk-in bill payments, at VSDA commission rates.
Western Union services also enable retailers to print store coupons or promotional advertisements directly on receipts of money orders and other purchases.
“By becoming a Western Union agent, VSDA members have the opportunity to increase revenues without costly investments or additional employees,” said Alfred Mendoza, manager, Sales and Agent Network, Western Union. “A Western Union sign next to a store's ‘Open' sign could open the door for more business, more customers and more traffic. Also, experience has shown that a high percentage of walk-in money order customers buy other goods during the same store visit.”
Retailers may offer a variety of Western Union services including money transfer, quick collect and SwiftPay service.
Interested VSDA retail members may contact Alfred Mendoza of Western Union at (909) 484-8575 and identify themselves as VSDA members.
