VSDA Launches Nationwide Voluntary 'Penny Per Transaction' Campaign in Support of Red Cross Efforts to Help Disaster Victims14 Sep, 2001 By: Hive News
Coordinating an industry-widecampaign to help the victims of the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Pennsylvania crash tragedies, the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) has launched a “Penny Per Transaction” voluntarydonation program encouraging its retail members to make donations to the Red Cross "Disaster Relief Fund.”
The VSDA’s "Fast Forward To End Childhood Hunger" program helped kick off the industry effort Friday with a $5,000 donation.
“Many of our retail members have expressed a great desire to help the victims of this horrible tragedy by pulling together as an industry,” saidVSDA chairman Tom Warren. “This week’s horrendous tragedy has united all Americans in a desireto aid all victims affected by these events. The video industry has the ability to help in a substantial and significant way through such acoordinated nationwide voluntary effort.”
The VSDA has developed artwork and instore signage that retailers may useimmediately to promote their instore donation efforts. These materials caneasily be downloaded from VSDA’s Web site, at vsda.com.
Retailers and othermembers of the industry are encouraged to send monetary donations to the American Red Cross by check or paid online. Checks should be mailed to:
