VPD Acquires Video Game Distributor VBC4 Feb, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner
Video Products Distributors (VPD) has acquired VBC Distribution (formally Video By Cycling), a Dallas-based video game distributor.
VBC carries a full line of video games, game accessories and hardware, and is one of the few national distributors of video games in the United States, servicing independent and franchised video rental stores throughout the country, as well as grocery chains, convenience stores and several catalog and Internet companies. The company has been serving the video industry for more than 20 years.
“I am very excited about this acquisition. VBC Distribution has built their business by creating a customer-oriented culture, which fits in perfectly with what we do at VPD,” said VPD president and CEO Tim Shannahan. “The game and distribution experts at VBC have built strong relationships with their customer base by remaining customer-focused, and now we can utilize the strength of our sales and distribution systems to help them be even more successful. VBC is a great company with great people, and I'm very happy to have them join the VPD family.”
VBC operations and warehousing will remain in Dallas, and Andrew Craft, former president and CEO of the company, will remain as the general manager.
