Consumer voting for the 2013 Home Media Magazine Awards has begun. Through April 14, film and TV fans and home entertainment enthusiasts can visit www.HomeMediaMagazine.com/awards-vote to select their favorite DVD and Blu-ray Disc titles of 2012, nominated by studios and distributors. The results of the consumer vote will be combined with ballots submitted by a panel of journalist and blogger judges. Winners will be announced April 29. Judges also will select a top Blu-ray, TV on disc and a best overall title.
Alongside the DVD and Blu-ray of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,' Lionsgate released an extended edition of 'Part 1.' With major retailers offering their own exclusive disc releases, this promises to be the biggest "Twilight" yet for the studio.
Netflix March 1 said it would begin streaming teen survivalist hit "The Hunger Games" on March 3 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Lionsgate title isn't available to the subscription video-on-demand pioneer’s domestic and Canadian subscribers until the end of the month.
Best Buy Co. March 1 reported a fourth-quarter (ended Feb. 2) net loss of $409 million, compared with a loss of $1.8 billion during the previous-year period. Domestic revenue reached $12.6 billion, down 0.3% from last year.
Though it arrived on a Saturday (March 2) with just one day to impact the charts, Summit’s 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,' distributed by Lionsgate, should be the top seller for the week ending March 3.
