Vongo Offers Gold Service5 Jun, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
Video-on-demand supplier Vongo is upgrading itself.
The subscription VOD service owned by cabler Starz Entertainment Group is moving out of its Beta phase. Consumers can now sign up for the “gold” version of Vongo, which delivers movies and other video content for playback on Windows-based PCs, laptops, TVs and select portable devices.
The gold version of Vongo boasts 1,600 movie and video titles. Vongo also will be introducing a library of more than 600 TV-based series and episodes throughout the year. These will include episodes from shows like “The Big Valley,” “The Green Hornet” and “The Rifleman.”
The service also has a new pricing plan. Vongo will offer subscribers (who pay $9.99 per month) the option of downloading a limited slate of movies as a pay-per-view option for $0.99 versus the current $3.99.
