Vivendi Finalizes Interplay Distribution Deal, Announces First PS2 Games for Fall26 Sep, 2001 By: Hive News
Vivendi Universal Publishing(VU Publishing) and Interplay Entertainment Corp. on Wednesday announced a North American distribution agreement which grants VU Publishing the exclusive rights to distribute Interplay's PC and video game console products through 2003, with the exception of Neverwinter Nights.
The first titles expected to be released under the new agreement will be two PlayStation 2 titles scheduled for this fall, Dungeons & Dragons' Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Giants: Citizen Kabuto, an action game.
Product information on upcoming Interplay releases will be announced at a later date, according to a VU Publishing press release.
"Interplay has a steady track record of developing strong franchise titles that have already established a loyal following in the gaming community," said Philip W. O'Neil, senior v.p. of sales, Vivendi Universal Interactive Publishing North America. "The addition of Interplay to our distribution portfolio is another example of how we are strategicallybroadening our market position and creating partnerships in which both parties benefit from the other's key strengths."
