Vivendi Acquires Palisades Tartan Films Library18 May, 2009 By: Billy Gil
Vivendi Entertainment has acquired U.S. home video, digital and mobile rights to the Palisades Tartan films library, making the titles available digitally to U.S. audiences for the first time.
The library consists of titles from the Asia Extreme (horror, thriller and action films from Asia, including Oldboy and Shutter) and The Palisades Tartan International Art House collection (award-winning indie fare such as 9 Songs and Red Road).
“The Palisades Tartan catalog features an incredible slate of cutting-edge and innovative feature films,” said Tom O’Malley, president of Vivendi Entertainment. “We are thrilled to be in business with them, as we have admired this library for a very long time.”
Palisades Pictures acquired Tartan Films’ U.S. library in May 2008, and in July 2008 acquired a majority of Tartan Films U.K.’s film library, forming new international distributor Palisades Tartan.
