Visual Entertainment, Universal Music Group Distribution's home video division, has changed its name to Vivendi Visual Entertainment and unveiled a new corporate logo.

“This latest enhancement to the VVE brand furthers our mission of being the entertainment company most admired for our people, partnerships and performance,” said GM Tom O'Malley.

Vivendi Visual Entertainment distributes a wide swathe of programming from indie studios and producers like Palm Pictures, Clanagan Media, Uwe Boll Productions, Xenon Pictures and Lightning Entertainment.

The company has brought to DVD theatrical features, direct-to-video productions, family films, comedies, foreign and Latino programs, urban films and fitness titles.

The company's higher-profile releases include BloodRayne, with Kristanna Loken, Michelle Rodriguez and Ben Kingsley; Cronicas, with John Leguizamo; Groomsmen, with Ed Burns and Brittany Murphy; and Edmond, with William H. Macy and Julia Stiles.

Cronicas, Sebastian Cordero's suspense thriller about a crusading TV reporter from Miami who travels to Ecuador to investigate a string of child murders, won top honors in April at the second annual Latino DVD Awards, presented by Home Media Retailing magazine in cooperation with DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and The Hollywood Reporter.

The film was named best of show and also won for best special features.
