Virgin Entertainment has rolled out 132 Virgin MegaPlay kiosk entertainment preview systems throughout its 23 North American Megastores and is readying a “Holiday Hero Week” promotion for next week, the chain announced today.
The MegaPlay kiosks will let customers try it before they buy by instantly accessing a database of more than 10,000 DVD movie trailers and 2.4 million CD tracks through a touch-screen interface.
"Holiday shopping can often be stressful and time consuming," says Glen Ward, CEO, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "So our goal was to create an enjoyable and interactive holiday shopping resource to reward our loyal customers. Through the use of the MegaPlay kiosks customers can now search, browse, and receive recommendations for the perfect gift for the entertainment enthusiast in their life."
The chain created Holiday Hero Week. Starting Monday, customers entering select stores may find a “Holiday Hero” at their service to make their shopping experience easier and faster. Select Virgin Megastores will also entertain holiday shoppers with special events such as food drives, charity gift wrapping events and local Holiday entertainment during Holiday Hero Week.
To encourage shoppers to stop in and try the kiosks during its Holiday Hero Week, Virgin has distributed more than 2 million Holiday Hero Cards nationwide for a special Scan and Win promotion that runs Monday to Dec. 1. Customers can bring the cards into any Virgin Megastore and scan the bar code to find out what prize they've won. Every card is a winner, with prizes including; trips to London, Virgin Mobile Phones, shopping sprees and special merchandise discounts.
Holiday shoppers may also participate in the Spend $50/Get $500 promotion. Customers spending $50 or more during the Holiday season will receive a $500 Virgin coupon book with special discounts on CDs, DVDs, games and books as well as coupons from Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Mobile, Vespa, Quiksilver, Urban Outfitters, Carnival Cruise Lines, Skechers, No Fear and Rolling Stone magazine.
