Video Comps Up at Circuit City

Circuit City posted a low single-digit increase in video software comp-store sales for the quarter ended May 31.

However, the entertainment segment as a whole, including video, games, music and PC software, dropped to 11% of domestic sales, from 13% in the same quarter last year.

High-end TV and digital music player sales helped the chain post a $6.4 million profit for the quarter, up from $583 million in the same quarter last year. Sales totaled $2.62 billion, up from $2.23 billion in the comparable quarter of 2005.
