Veterans Settle Rivercoast23 Aug, 2007 By: Chris Tribbey
There's nothing like enjoying who you work with.
That's the idea behind the start of new independent film distributor Rivercoast Films Distribution. Five veterans with a combined 150 years in the business round out the Rivercoast team. Co-founder and president Mike Katchman was most recently with Lionsgate as SVP of sales, and co-founder Tony Ventura headed up the sales team at First Look Home Entertainment, along with new Rivercoast sales heads Marty Dattilo, Lisa Jones and Cliff Henderson.
“The video industry is constantly changing, but one thing remains the same: This is a relationship-driven business, and that's where Rivercoast excels,” Katchman said.
Rivercoast will focus on releasing at least two independent titles a month, and orders will be shipped and invoiced by Triumph Marketing of Atlanta. The Cincinnati-based company's inaugural release will be Nov. 20 (prebook Oct. 24) with For the Love of a Dog, a just-completed film about kids recruiting their friends to raise money to pay for the treatment of their sick dog.
“This group knows what has to be done and how to do it,” Katchman said. “There isn't a staff out there at any other studio that can do a better job of placing independent product at retail.”
