Verizon Wireless Launches Mobile Video Content Service

Verizon Wireless is launching its mobile video content service, V Cast, Wednesday with content from a variety of studio, network and video game suppliers.

20th Century Fox Television has licensed the rights to distribute to Verizon Wireless 24: Conspiracy, an original live-action thriller comprising one-minute “mobisode” video clips inspired by the TV show “24.”

Among the other content providers represented are NBC Universal, CNN, E!, Sony Pictures Mobile, ESPN, Gameloft, music videos from Warner Music Group, Walt Disney Internet Group.

Starting Feb. 7, Verizon Wireless customers who pay $15 a month to add the V Cast VPak to their Verizon Wireless calling plans get unlimited access to more than 300 video clips updated daily.

Unlimited basic video clips are included, but application download fees will apply for 3-D games, premium video clips and all other “Get It Now” applications. There are no airtime charges to download or stream and watch V Cast content.

V Cast runs on the Windows Media platform.
