Ventura Entertainment to Distribute New Slamdance Home Entertainment Video Label

The Slamdance Media Group has created a new video label.

Peter Baxter, president and co-founder of the 10-year-old Slamdance Film Festival, has partnered with film and television producer and talent manager Robert Schwartz and entrepreneur George Ketvertis to create the Slamdance Home Entertainment Label.

The label has named Ventura Entertainment as the exclusive distributor for the label and also gives Ventura the chance to turn over its selected films to the Slamdance Media group for theatrical release.

Slamdance's new theatrical distribution unit, Slamdance On the Road, has linked with ArcLight Cinemas for exclusive exhibition of new film titles initially in the Los Angeles market.

Ventura will create a newly branded label to market titles from Slamdance Media Group. The companies expect to release about 12 titles a year, with the first title to be announced.

“Slamdance is a portal to cutting-edge film properties that will define new commercial genres of independent film under a brand that stands out. Ventura brings capital, selling power and broad market reach to the venture,” said Sally Adams, Ventura's VP of acquisitions & development of the venture.
