VDI Launches Video Label MediaLINK20 Jun, 2007 By: Billy Gil
VDI Entertainment, an El Segundo, Calif.-based global independent with U.S. distribution through Koch Entertainment, has formed a new label, MediaLINK Entertainment.
VDI acquired distributor Ventura International, along with its operating business units in Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe, earlier this year. MediaLINK was created to re-release and market the catalog of acquired titles in the United States, and will also have direct distribution of its titles in 25 countries.
Upcoming MediaLINK releases include Kids in the Hall: The Pilot Episode — Special Headcrusher Edition (with newly created special features), Diana: An Intimate Portrait, and the launch of the “Crusty Demons” catalogue, in conjunction with the debut of “Crusty's Dirt Demons” on Fuse TV.
Don Spielvogel will serve as VP of sales for MediaLINK, and former Ventura marketing executives Victoria Sarro and Brandon Wong will oversee marketing, promotion and brand management. Michelle Ferrell, previously of Allumination FilmWorks, will serve as MediaLINK's director of creative, marketing and production services.
MediaLINK will focus on niche and special interest titles, such as anime, urban, Latino, comedy, fitness and documentaries, according to company EVP, Chris Lynch. MediaLINK was formed by Lynch, along with VDI principals Craig Sussman and Bill Ott.
