UrbanWorks Label Kicks Off Soccer Line13 Mar, 2004 By: Hive News
Much in the way professional basketball has evolved on the urban city playground, elite soccer has refined itself on the sandlots in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and back alleys of Manchester, England, and Marseilles, France.
UrbanWorks Entertainment will bow the first of three 2004 DVD releases in a partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) and Payne Media May 18 (prebook April 5).
MLS: The Greatest Goals 1996-2003, as the $19.99 title suggests, features an hour of photogenic headers, bicycle kicks and other assorted scoring from the U.S. league's top players, including Cobi Jones, Landon Donovan, Carlos Ruiz, Alexi Lalas and DaMarcus Beasley.
Like Greatest Goals, future releases MLS 2003 Year in Review and MLS Greatest Hits will include bonus audio in Spanish by Luis Tapia, play-by-play announcer for ESPN Español. Alas, the title comes too late for Donovan, Beasley and Team USA, which were eliminated last month by Mexico in qualifying for this summer's Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
