Universal to Street Motorcycle Diaries

13 Dec, 2004 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Universal Studios Home Entertainment Feb. 15, 2005 will release The Motorcycle Diaries on DVD ($29.98) and VHS ($23.98).

The highly acclaimed film is about two young Argentines — Alberto Granado and Ernesto “Che” Guevara — whose 8,000-mile journey in 1953 from their comfortable upbringings in Buenos Aires astride a 1939 Norton motorcycle evolved into an affinity for humanity within themselves and a determination to change the world.

Guevara and Granado are played by rising Latino actors Gael Garc?a Bernal (Y Tu Mamá Tambi?n) and Rodrigo del la Serna.

Guevara, of course, would become a revered leader of revolutionary Marxism in the 1960s — a moniker that would ultimately lead to his 1967 capture and execution in Bolivia.

DVD bonus features include deleted scenes, a making-of vignette, an interview with Granado and a commentary with director Walter Salles and Latin Grammy-winning music composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
