Universal Returns to VSDA27 Jun, 2005 By: Kurt Indvik
Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE) is returning as an exhibitor at the Video Software Dealers Association's (VSDA) annual convention, Home Entertainment 2005, for the first time in three years.
Organizers note that USHE's return marks the first time since 2001 that all the major studios are exhibiting at the VSDA convention.
This year's event runs July 26 – 28 at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Joining USHE are Buena Vista Home Entertainment, DreamWorks Home Entertainment, Lions Gate Home Entertainment, Paramount Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Warner Home Video.
More than 200 companies are exhibiting at this year's event, including more than 60 first-time participants. Organizers said that 16 of those first-timers are independent video suppliers.
“We are very excited that such a broad contingent of major studios and independent producers will be exhibiting at the show,” said Bo Andersen, VSDA president. “It signals that there is great enthusiasm for the show format and its location at the Bellagio.”
This year's event is experiencing an upsurge of interest over last year, organizers said, with exhibit floor space and meeting suites nearly sold out and registration tracking well ahead of its pace at this time last year.
Home Entertainment 2005 is produced by Home Entertainment Events, a joint venture between the VSDA and Questex Media, publisher of Home Media Retailing.
