HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — To mark the DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of a hit film, many studios throw a cocktail party, or bring out the stars for a red carpet event.

For the Dec. 16 releases of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Universal Studios Home Entertainment decided to set people on fire.

“In celebrating the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, we saw a unique opportunity to go deep behind-the-scenes and work with top notch stunt experts to bring to life some of the most exceptional stunts, fight sequences and pyrotechnics featured in the summer blockbuster,” said Lea Porteneuve, VP of communications and publicity for USHE. “It was a one-of-a-kind experience that effectively paid homage to both the film and to the prized Mummy franchise.”

At the Sunset Gower Studios Dec. 10 the people behind the stunts of the film did blow-by-blow recreations of some of the action sequences from the film. Stuntman Joey Box said this Mummy — the third installment — “is probably the best. Tons of pyro and big action.”

Bonus features on the deluxe edition DVD and Blu-ray include a closer look at some of the stunts in the film, as well as a host of featurettes delving deeper into the movie. An interactive game, a picture-in-picture option, a “scene explorer,” and a “Know Your Mummy” trilogy information option are among the Blu-ray exclusive features.
