Universal Studios Home Entertainment's release of Van Helsing, the vampire hunter of Bram Stoker's classic novel, Dracula, has sold more than 4 million combined DVD/VHS units since its release Oct. 19, according to the studio.
Van Helsing stars Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale, Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham and Will Kemp.
The $65 million six-day tally represents more than half of the film's theatrical box office since its debut May 9.
“We are elated by these results and are particularly pleased by the momentum generated by this title in just the short time it has been released,” said Craig Kornblau, president of USHE.
The studio said it anticipates a record-breaking fourth quarter, based on a release schedule that represents 36 percent of domestic box office from all films on video being released during that period.
