Two Directors Elected to VSDA Board19 Jun, 2002 By: Kurt Indvik
David Batten, owner of Premieres Video in Wake Forest, N.C., and Terri Schumacher, owner of Video Village Etc. in Mount Vernon, Iowa, have been elected to three-year terms on the Video Software Dealers Association Board of Directors, the trade group has announced.
“We congratulate David and Terri on their election,” said VSDA chairman Tom Warren. “As successful and independent retailers and committed VSDA members, they bring valuable knowledge and experience to the board. The industry and particularly independent retailers will benefit from having them at the table.”
This is Batten's first term in office, while Schumacher will be serving her second term.
Batten operates four stores and has been in the video business for 15 years, according to the VSDA. He has served on a variety of VSDA committees in the past and has been president of the VSDA's Carolinas Chapter for the past two years. He is one of the organizers of that chapter's popular Sunsplash regional event each summer.
Schumacher operates one store and is vice chairman of the VSDA board of directors. She is a cofounding board member of the VSDA's Heartland Chapter, where she served as president for three years and has served on various other VSDA committees.
The newly elected directors will commence their terms following the next VSDA board of directors meeting, scheduled for July 15 at the Rio Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, just prior to the start of Home Entertainment 2002 presented by the VSDA.
