'Toxic Avenger' Ready for Download

11 Apr, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf

Campy superhero The Toxic Avenger is leaping into the digital-download age.

Troma Entertainment, the edgy home of cult favorite “Toxie,” announced April 10 it has released “The Toxic Avenger” series and other hit films from its catalog for download-to-burn site EZTakes.com.

EZTakes already has a catalog of hundreds of full-length independent films, classics, cult, horror and Bollywood movies.

Movie downloads on EZTakes start at $1.99 and average about $7.99. Most EZTakes DVDs include all of the extra features of the original DVD.

The service has a built-in antipiracy safeguard. Each download is encrypted with a traceable mark, unique to each purchaser.

“Famous movie makers, average consumers and even superheroes all have one thing in common: Almost nobody is willing to pay to download movies that they can only watch on their PC," said Jim Flynn, CEO of EZTakes. "By giving people the ability to easily burn DVDs, EZTakes has made it possible for paying consumers to get legal movie downloads that they can enjoy just about anywhere they want."
