TLA Postpones Sale, Plans More Releases16 Jul, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey
In the face of a rough economy, TLA Releasing’s plans to sell or license its 200-title DVD, TV and VOD library are on hold, at least for now.
“With the economy, we decided to sit back and wait a bit,” said Kelly Burkhardt, managing director of TLA Releasing, which is a subsidiary of TLA Entertainment Group, and specializes in gay and lesbian product. “We’re sitting on a lot of great titles.”
TLA will go forward with the DVD release of at least five more titles in the fourth quarter, starting in October. They include Chef’s Special, Shank, Redwoods, Wrecked and Make the Yuletide Gay. Burkhardt said many of those have been well received at recent film festivals.
In April the company cut two members of its 17-person staff.
