TiVo Bows Remote Access via Verizon16 Mar, 2007 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Digital video recording pioneer TiVo Inc. has partnered with Verizon Wireless to begin offering a service that allows users to schedule recordings of television programs from a cell phone.
TiVo Mobile is a downloadable application from Verizon that TiVo subscribers equipped with Series 2 or Series 3 set-top boxes can use with select Verizon handsets.
The service, which is available for a $1.99 monthly fee, uses TiVo's interface that allows users to browse through TV program listings in addition to premium content and TiVo recommendations.
“TiVo continues to transform and revolutionize the way people control and watch television," said Jim Denney, VP of product marketing at TiVo. “TiVo Mobile scheduling gives Verizon Wireless customers unprecedented control of their television experience and provides that control wherever they are.”
