Televisa Migrates to Tandberg's MPEG-4

21 Jun, 2008 By: Carrie Widder

Grupo Televisa has selected Tandberg Television's MPEG-4 AVC video encoding and distribution systems to deliver programming across Mexico. Televisa will be the first broadcaster in North America to use an all MPEG-4 AVC distribution, which allows them to deliver both HD and SD content while using the same amount of satellite bandwidth.

The upgrade from MPEG-2 to Tandberg Television's MPEG-4 AVC will allow Televisa to reach efficient bandwidth, and requires only half the bit rate that MPEG-2 did, while still maintaining the same picture quality.
