Televisa Expands User-Generated Video Capabilities

10 Aug, 2008 By: Billy Gil

Televisa is expanding its multiyear business relationship with Onstream Media Corp. to allow access to better-quality video service to Televisa's audience currently using Onstream's user-generated video platform.

The deal allows people using Onstream Media's Digital Media Services Platform, within Televisa's Esmas social network platform, for uploading, transcoding, hosting and streaming video to do so with higher bit rates, larger frame sizes, better aspect ratios and improved codecs. Televisa is expected to use the video capabilities for new projects related to its television production division.

“Onstream Media is one of our more important vendors, providing us with a solid and scalable platform for which we have grown our user-generated video business,” said Juan Bernardo Gonzalez Mendoza, director of technology of Televisa Digital. “The Esmas social network depends on the reliability and versatility of its integrated technologies to give our audience the best user experience possible. Onstream Media continues to meet our demanding requirements.”
