Supplier to Launch Online Adult DVD Rental

9 Oct, 2002 By: Hive News

Watch out, Netflix. There's a new kid in town -- and he's a bit blue.

FirstCall/Private Media Group Inc., a provider of adult entertainment products, services and Internet content, announced it will launch the first-ever adult DVD rental subscription service in the United States by Christmas.

For a flat monthly fee, movies will be delivered to households via U.S. mail in postage-paid return envelopes and can be returned at any time.

The service -- to be run through a Web site at www. privateathome. com -- will offer customers access to Private's DVD library of more than 320 existing titles with nine new releases every month.

The proprietary library should help the service's DVD turnaround speed.

"Unlike most other online DVD rental service providers, we own our content, which means that we can provide an unlimited number of every title so our subscribers will never have wait for delivery," said Charles Prast, president and CEO of Private Media Group.

"We believe this new means of selecting and ordering DVDs is a convenient, cost-effective and discrete alternative to traditional adult rental outlets," he said. "While the U.S. will be our initial target market, we intend to explore opportunities to roll out this service across Europe in 2003."
