Two Sundance Film Festival competitors have homes on home video at Sundance Channel Home Entertainment.
Christopher M?nch's The Sleepy Time Gal, starring Jacqueline Bisset, and The Slaughter Rule, starring Ryan Gosling, will show up on VHS and DVD from the Showtime Entertainment-distributed label Feb. 18, 2003. In addition, Sundance has pay TV rights for The Slaughter Rule. Sleepy Time streets Jan. 21, 2003; Slaughter streets Feb. 18. Prebook dates have not been announced.
The Sleepy Time Gal, written and directed by Christopher M?nch, was shown at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and premiered on Sundance Channel in March. The film stars Bisset as a middle-aged writer and onetime jazz DJ who visits a former lover and starts yearning for the daughter she gave up for adoption 30 years earlier.
The Slaughter Rule is co-written and co-directed by the sibling team of Alex and Andrew Smith, and premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. It will debut on Sundance Channel in December. In the drama, Ryan Gosling plays a down-and-out high-school football player who teams up with a local to make an scrappy, underdog team of their own.
