Sun Microsystems, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based computer and information technology vendor, has formed the Sun Media Advisory Board, consisting of media industry executives focused on solving digital media distribution issues. The announcement was made at the 2008 NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show.
Projects for the board announced at the show include improving content transcoding in multi-operating system environments for optimal electronic delivery of content, optimizing video storage capabilities and exploring new revenue opportunities for digital content owners through advertising, fingerprinting and watermarking.
The board's steering committee consists of executives from MLB Advanced Media, Turner Entertainment Networks and HBO Communications.
