Steven Bersch Named COO of Fox Video Division

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has named Steven Bersch to the newly created position of COO, overseeing business development, acquisitions, operations, finance and administration, business and legal affairs, and information technology.

Bersch, a nine-year Fox veteran who most recently held the post of president of Fox Interactive, will report directly to Mike Dunn, the newly named president of the home video division.

“I'm trying to build my organization for the future,” said Dunn. “There are a lot of heady issues coming up, including high definition and copy protection.

“For us to be relevant to our studio and to our customers, it requires new acquisitions and direct-to-video releases.”

He said Bersch brings a “new set of eyes to the business.”

“I think that's always important,” he said.

In his former post, Bersch more than doubled the Interactive division's annual revenue from new products and produced successful titles for all three console game platforms, the studio reported. “He understands you need growth,” Dunn said.

Before that, Bersch was EVP of business affairs for 20th Century Fox. Bersch joined Fox in 1994 from Paramount Pictures, where he was SVP of business affairs. He has held similar positions at other entertainment companies, including Warner Bros. and United Artists.

Dunn said Bersch's experience in both movie production and packaged-goods business management makes him a strong addition to the team.
