Stars Shine at VSDA Confab29 Jun, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
Much of the old Hollywood glamour may be gone from the annual VSDA convention, compared to the confab's heyday. But even after 25 years, celebrities still find their way to the event.
This year's star lineup runs the gamut from the funny to the fabulous — from hot and hip rising stars to an iconic legend.
Comedian Bob Saget, who's performing at and hosting the annual award ceremony Tuesday, July 11, at 8:30 p.m., will also be guest of honor and sign autographs at the ThinkFilm 5th Anniversary party that afternoon in the ThinkFilm suite from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. ThinkFilm is releasing Saget's upcoming comedy, Farce of the Penguins.
The awards show itself is drawing appearances from this year's honorees Lucy Liu, Carmen Electra, Ed Burns, Mehcad Brooks and Peter Falk to accept awards.
Other stars dropping by the show for in-suite autograph signings include Kevin Bacon Wednesday, July 12, from 3 to 4:30 p.m in the Screen Media booth (3-210). Bacon is promoting his film Loverboy from Screen Media.
Ed Burns will stick around to sign autographs for Vivendi Visual Entertainment, which is releasing his upcoming flick The Groomsmen. Vivendi also is bringing recent “Lost” star Michelle Rodriguez to sign autographs and promote her movie, A Cat's Tale.
Howie Mandel will be there for Imagination Entertainment, promoting a DVD game, available in third-floor room 228 at 2 p.m.
Star Sean Young also is visiting the show this year, for Allumination FilmWorks.
Times and places for the star sightings are still in flux, but attendees can check with the respective suppliers and up-to-date information will be well-posted at the event, said Martin Blythe, show planner.
