HBO Video has rescheduled its HD release of The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 1 for Dec. 19. The four-disc collection will be offered in both HD DVD and Blu-ray formats at $129.95.
The HD DVD version of The Sopranos: Season 6, Part1 had been slated for release Nov. 7, day-and-date with the standard-DVD version. It was pushed back due to production delays, according to an HBO spokesperson, allowing Warner Home Video's Smallville: The Complete Fifth Season to become the first TV show on HD DVD when it hits shelves Nov. 28.
“The Sopranos” will be the first TV show released in a multidisc Blu-ray edition.
The HD versions of “The Sopranos” will include all the bonus materials from the standard-DVD version, including four commentaries. The standard-DVD set also was four discs.Season 6, Part 1 includes the 12 aired episodes from the 2006 season of the show about the family life of New Jersey mobsters. The final eight episodes of the series will air beginning in March 2007.
Additional seasons of “The Sopranos” and other HBO Video titles will debut in HD starting in 2007.
