Sony Expands its Style

16 Mar, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf

Sony Electronics is expanding its Style Store concept to four new markets this month.

The high-end stores stock the hippest entertainment gadgets and feature innovative displays of HDTV sets and DVD players alongside supplies of Sony computers, ditigal cameras and more.

The four new 6,000-square-foot stores will open in high-end malls in Edison, N.J, Seattle, Indianapolis and Portland, Ore. They bring the total Style Store count to 15 locations in select markets across the country.

The concept stores had a great year last year with record sales over Thanksgiving weekend, said Dennis Syracuse, SVP of consumer retail salsa at Sony Electronics. Same-store ales were up 28 percent versus the prior year holiday shopping weekend.

"The stores give consumers the opportunity to see first-hand our wide array of product offerings," Syracuse said. "Each store enables us to interact directly with individual consumers to educate them about our products and services, and help them understand how Sony's technologies can enhance their lives."
